At the conclusion of one of our workshops, you will be informed if you are receiving a digital badge for your participation. This will be communicated verbally at in-person workshops, and via an email from a member of our CottonWorks™ Team for virtual workshops. In that message, you will be told to keep an eye out for an email from our digital badge issuer, Credly (admin@credly.com). Click on the link in that email to accept your badge. You will be required to create a (free) Credly account to accept your badge, and from there you can share your badge so others can see your accomplishment.
Q. How can I be eligible to receive a digital badge?
As our in-person workshops have many hands-on opportunities to engage with the course materials, all participants who complete an in-person workshop will receive a digital badge. For our virtual workshops, we measure participation in the workshop via interactions with an app within Zoom called Slido. You can join that workshop’s Slido either within Zoom, or on your phone by scanning a QR code.
At the beginning of the virtual workshop, if you are interested in earning a digital badge, you will be asked to input your contact information into Slido. Then, simply participate in 75% of the available Slido interactions during the virtual workshop, and you will then earn that workshop’s badge. If you have more questions about badge eligibility, please reach out to us at cottonworks@cottoninc.com.
Q. What is a digital badge?
A digital badge is a representation of the training you have completed, which is hosted online, backed by metadata and verifiable that you were the earner of the badge.
Q. What are the benefits of a badge?
Representing your skills as a badge gives you a way to share your abilities online in a way that is simple, trusted and can be easily verified in real time. Badges provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you’re now capable of.
Q: Who is Credly?
Credly is the badge issuer we have collaborated with to issue and verify your badges. The email you will receive to accept your badge will come from Credly, and you will need to create a free Credly account to accept and share your badge.
Q: Is there a fee to use Credly?
No. This is a service we provide to you, at no cost.
Q: What’s to keep someone else from copying my badge and using it?
While badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on Credly. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a paper-based certificate. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential and your associated identity.
Q: Where and how can I share my badge?
You can share your badge directly from Credly to LinkedIn, X, and Facebook, via email, or embed it in a website or your email signature.
Q: Can I export badges issued through Credly to other badge-storing platforms?
Yes, you can download your badge from the Share Badge page. Your downloaded badge contains Open Badge Infrastructure (OBI) compliant metadata embedded into the image. This allows you to store your badge on other OBI-compliant badge sites.
Q: I have a question about Credly. Where can I find support?
