Cotton Incorporated licenses the Seal of Cotton trademark with brands that meet minimum cotton requirements in hygiene, household, medical and beauty products. Since it was established in 1973, the Seal has grown into an iconic household brand and today, 8 out of 10 consumers recognize the trademark.1 Since 2023, the nonwovens licensing group has explored ways to provide value to brands beyond the Seal to further Cotton Incorporated’s mission in driving the demand for and profitability of cotton. 2024 marks the first year the nonwovens group is rolling out their new strategic initiative – Cotton in Commerce™ – a platform that connects cotton brands to retail buyers.
Meghan Holliday, director of nonwovens marketing explains, “Cotton Incorporated has a track record of providing valuable offers, such as sponsored product showcases at major tradeshows. These initiatives consistently enhance brand visibility for licensees who opt to participate. With the ongoing program success, we are eager to explore additional avenues, specifically participating in Drug Store Management’s buyer sample program this year and launching Cotton in Commerce™. Our collaboration with the Organyc® brand, a valued Seal of Cotton licensee, on this new initiative, recognizes their alignment with our goals for this cotton promotion endeavor.”
This strategic venture will catalyze cotton brand exposure to drive demand for and profitability of cotton with an expected reach of 300 retail buyers this year. The campaign includes:
- Sponsoring product sample review programs
- Expanding Cotton’s sourcing directory offering to include our Seal of Cotton trademark licensees (making it easier for buyers to find quality, cotton products)
- Advancing Cotton’s intent of securing prime retail placement for cotton products
