Consumer Insights: Back-to-School 2024

Posted on

As families prepare for the back-to-school season, a recent consumer survey from Cotton Incorporated’s Lifestyle Monitor sheds light on the preferences of parents and students when it comes to back-to-school shopping. The findings reveal a strong preference for cotton-based products because of their natural comfort. This preference spans across various items, from t-shirts to denim. The survey revealed that the natural comfort, durability, and quality of cotton make it a top choice for back-to-school school purchases. With 81% or parents preferring cotton in t-shirts and 77% preferring cotton in sweatshirts and hoodies, cotton’s influence and reputation is clear: parents prefer cotton.

The survey also found that students, much like their parents, prefer cotton for its comfort. 56% of students prefer cotton in sweatshirts and hoodies, and 55% prefer cotton in t-shirts. This preference underscores the importance of fabrics that are not only comfortable for long school days but also strong enough to withstand the wear and tear of daily use. Their clothing purchase drivers also show a preference for items that are comfortable, good quality, trendy, and durable.
