A large variety of designs can be made from the simple combination of Warp and Weft yarns. Attendees in this workshop will learn more about different weave designs, how they are made, and their properties.

This workshop will cover innovations and improvements in laser technology used to achieve novel designs and performance effects on fabrics and garments. The course will also cover the basics of laser technology as related to discharging color, removing fiber from the fabric surface, sculpturing fabric, and the hole formation. New dyeing and finishing techniques and the way they relate to laser technology will also be covered.

The three basic types of weaves can be combined into an infinite number of design capability. Attendees in this workshop will learn more about combining plain, twill, and satin weaves into the complex patterns of dobby and Jacquard.

This workshop covers the parameters for producing denim fabrics and garments with specific functional performance using modern and fashion-based dry and wet technologies. We will discuss the indigo dyeing process, commonly used physical and chemical finishes for fabrics and garments, and garment finishing technologies as they relate to sustainability concerns. Participants will have the opportunity to take their learnings to our dyeing and finishing lab and put their classroom learnings to use by finishing their own pair of jeans. Our qualified finishing experts will also discuss performance finishes developed by Cotton Incorporated.

This workshop covers avenues for the value engineering of textile goods. Instructors will share a comprehensive overview of the cost relations of various manufacturing processes to help participants learn to identify potential pathways for reducing cost. The presentation will be interspersed with hands-on activities where participants will get to practice recognizing targets for reduction.

This workshop covers the essentials for buying and developing home textile products including sheeting and towels. From fiber choice through fabrication, finishing, and testing, attendees will learn to understand terminology, specifications, and testing reports and gain insight into the costing levers of these products.  

This workshop covers techniques to produce stretch in fabrics across a variety of different textile processes. Discussions will cover different performance aspects of stretch, proper manufacturing of these products, and differences between processing stretch and non-stretch fabrics. Case studies of a knit fabric and a woven fabric will be utilized to facilitate learning and give attendees real-world practice. Participants will learn how to effectively communicate with suppliers to meet goals.  

This hands-on workshop equips participants with practical skills to identify, analyze, and resolve textile quality issues. Through real-world case studies, attendees will learn how to diagnose root causes and recommend corrective actions for defects found at any stage: from mill production to product testing, wear trials, and even post-consumer feedback. The session emphasizes applied problem-solving and actionable insights for maintaining quality standards.
